“Kayak fishing has gotten expensive. Live scope, motors, $5,000 rigs. We’re going the other way — paddle power, a decent fish finder, and the knowledge of where to go and what to do when you get there.”

Why this site exists

Kayak fishing tournaments now require live scope, GPS trolling motors, and $5,000 kayaks to compete. Bass Angler Magazine called it an “elitist” direction. Forums are full of anglers who feel priced out before they even launch.

This site is the counter to that. Every guide, review, and recommendation here is written from the perspective of an angler who believes the fish don’t know what your fish finder cost. Skill, local knowledge, and the right $800 rig catch as many fish as a $5,000 tournament setup.

We’re here to prove it — one Oklahoma lake at a time.

Hey, I’m Clete.

I’m a kayak angler based in central Oklahoma, fishing out of a Bonafide RS117. I started this site because I couldn’t find straight answers on where to go, what gear was worth buying, or how to get dialed in without a lot of trial and error. This is everything I wish had existed when I bought my first yak.
